THE GET DOWN
Casual eatery/deli and bakery up front, more upscale neighborhood restaurant in back.
You can choose which route to go when you arrive. It’s a bustling scene during the day (which is the only time I’ve been) for both the deli and restaurant.
The deli at Tavern (called The Larder) however, makes for a more comfortable eating experience if you are toting a little one. They have a bit more freedom to stand on the low couches and move around (though the space is narrow and tight).
I’m not sure I’d recommend going to the restaurant at night with kids under 5 because the evening crowd is not as relaxed.
The Larder offers some great options for kids. I love when a kid’s menu has portioned sized adult selections, like the one here. You’ll find fish and chips, grilled chicken, hand pressed burgers, etc. This way, you can get that salad that you really want, and everyone can be happily satisfied.

For those with little
runners & screamers:
Easily forgiven:
Here, you can forget the fact that it’s your rambunctious child that’s screaming and STILL enjoy most of your meal.
Not promoted, but you should take the chance:
If your toddler is at the stage when an iPad or some other colorful distraction can be used for an un-interrupted 20 minutes, then go for it.
Uh-uh, NO WAY, don’t even think about it!:
I don’t care how cute your toddler is. Pop your head in… turn around… walk away. PERIOD.
No contained area:
A place you cannot leave your toddler alone, not even for a second.
Enclosed, but space is tight:
If YOU can’t fit between the tables then you know you couldn’t catch your toddler if they tried – this isn’t Norm’s.
