THE GET DOWN
If you are looking for a one stop shop for your tot under 5, then pop into PLAY. It’s filled with all kinds of activities that your little one will love. From music to art, and toys that enhance imaginary play, PLAY offers it all.
Be sure to check their website for a list of classes, as you have to be registered here to “PLAY”, with the exception of Messy Art classes on Saturday mornings.
The cool thing about PLAY is that if you are registered for a class here, you can show up an hour before to use the toy area. They also let kids gather in the communal area to play after each class and have a pint sized communal table that encourages snacking together.
Unfortunately, class times here at PLAY never worked out for our schedule, but they offer an open PLAY Art class on Saturday’s and Capri just loves it! Yes, let your tot put on a smock and get someone else’s place messy for a change.
Your little one can scream, laugh and paint as much as they want. I really appreciate the social aspect of a Saturday open play. The bonus is that most indoor playgrounds in LA are not open on weekends so keep PLAY in mind if you (or your tot) wake up having a DAY and want something low-key, fun and easy.

For those with little
runners & screamers:
Easily forgiven:
Here, you can forget the fact that it’s your rambunctious child that’s screaming and STILL enjoy most of your meal.
Not promoted, but you should take the chance:
If your toddler is at the stage when an iPad or some other colorful distraction can be used for an un-interrupted 20 minutes, then go for it.
Uh-uh, NO WAY, don’t even think about it!:
I don’t care how cute your toddler is. Pop your head in… turn around… walk away. PERIOD.
No contained area:
A place you cannot leave your toddler alone, not even for a second.
Enclosed, but space is tight:
If YOU can’t fit between the tables then you know you couldn’t catch your toddler if they tried – this isn’t Norm’s.
