THE GET DOWN
Blink and you’ll miss Mh Zh … unless you are driving at night and wondering why so many people are gathering on one corner. I can tell you it’s because some of the best Israeli food in the Silverlake hood can be found right here.
Aside from the friendly folks that work at Mh Zh, the charm of this place is its setting. The restaurant itself seats about 5 people at a counter, which then leads to the somewhat mass amount of communal seating outside.
MhZh has a NYC kinda vibe. If you are dining at night, the only time you’ll be able to snap a photo of your food is when someone is exiting the Dollar Store Parking lot…Yes, I know. This doesn’t make sense right now, but you’ll know what I mean when you get there.
The food at Mh Zh is special. The grilled sea bass was simply seasoned and grilled to absolute perfection! In fact, I tried to replicate this at home and failed miserably. It’s the love folks, the people who own Mh Zh just love what they do.
I can rattle off everything we’ve tried over the last several months, but the menu constantly changes. Maybe that’s why it’s written on a paper bag? At any rate, I’m under the impression now that Mh Zh can do NO wrong!
First time in, the hubs and I had a date night, so things worked out perfectly. If you’re going to dine with your tot however, and have a runner on hand, then just be warned that Mh Zh sits on the corner of two very busy streets. I mean, the Dollar Store keeps what is supposed to be a quiet street bustling with traffic and bright lights.
Like I said, this IS the charm of Mh Zh though, so don’t let this deter you. Bring some sidewalk chalk, extra toys and get down with the friends you are spontaneously having dinner with, while the kids give the space some color. Did I mention Mh Zh is BYOB?

For those with little
runners & screamers:
Easily forgiven:
Here, you can forget the fact that it’s your rambunctious child that’s screaming and STILL enjoy most of your meal.
Not promoted, but you should take the chance:
If your toddler is at the stage when an iPad or some other colorful distraction can be used for an un-interrupted 20 minutes, then go for it.
Uh-uh, NO WAY, don’t even think about it!:
I don’t care how cute your toddler is. Pop your head in… turn around… walk away. PERIOD.
No contained area:
A place you cannot leave your toddler alone, not even for a second.
Enclosed, but space is tight:
If YOU can’t fit between the tables then you know you couldn’t catch your toddler if they tried – this isn’t Norm’s.
