THE GET DOWN
Did you know there is a part of LA named Frogtown? Yes! And Salazar happens to be located right here.
Salazar is about as fun as you can get for meeting your peeps and Peepsqueaks out for Mexican food and a good time.
The food won’t blow your mind, but then again it doesn’t need to. What Salazar lacks in innovation (and trust me, there is NO reason to reinvent any wheel when it comes to Mexican food) it compensates for in atmosphere.
Bringing the tots to Salazar is always a good idea. Yes, it’s just that type of place. Eating at Salazar is like having a catered picnic outside. Yep! The entire restaurant is outdoors, which in LA you CAN do that kind of thing.
There are plenty of rocks for the tots to get their fingers on, trees to climb and women making tortillas to watch. If you have a runner, you might want to grab a seat as far back as you could though, because the space itself is NOT contained and it sits very close to a street.
The large communal tables make Salazar perfect for large and casual gatherings. The cocktails at Salazar make it perfect for an all afternoon hang. Start by ordering some guac, chips and quesadillas for the kids so you can have time to enjoy your drink. Get your buzz on before you notice that they are no longer sitting at the table.
Marinated brisket, tacos, nopales, elotes… you name it, Salazar will have it. Brunch of course will get you the best of both worlds. Plan your next hang right here and venture into Frogtown!

For those with little
runners & screamers:
Easily forgiven:
Here, you can forget the fact that it’s your rambunctious child that’s screaming and STILL enjoy most of your meal.
Not promoted, but you should take the chance:
If your toddler is at the stage when an iPad or some other colorful distraction can be used for an un-interrupted 20 minutes, then go for it.
Uh-uh, NO WAY, don’t even think about it!:
I don’t care how cute your toddler is. Pop your head in… turn around… walk away. PERIOD.
No contained area:
A place you cannot leave your toddler alone, not even for a second.
Enclosed, but space is tight:
If YOU can’t fit between the tables then you know you couldn’t catch your toddler if they tried – this isn’t Norm’s.
