THE GET DOWN
Not only does Barrel & Ashes have a cool casual vibe, but they have pretty memorable BBQ too. On any given day, you will be sitting next to a foodie who has at least a half dozen BBQ restaurants to compare.
Barrel & Ashes attracts a young, fun crowd, especially at brunch. I recommend the chicken sandwich. No, it’s not BBQ’d but it’s pretty damn good. IN fact, it’s even named “The Best Damn Chicken Sandwich Y’ever Had’’…honest! I’m not making that up. With a name like that, why would you pass it up?
The meats here are all smoked, specifically over red oak, then cooked over white oak for all you “BBQ” experts. The combo brings out the meats subtle yet robust flavor. And honestly, Barrel & Ashes is family style. Order a few sides and get the m ac n cheese for those picky eaters.
If you really want to let loose, go for the Bloody Mary’s at weekend brunch and pretend you can’t hear your screamer. It’s loud in there anyway.

For those with little
runners & screamers:
Easily forgiven:
Here, you can forget the fact that it’s your rambunctious child that’s screaming and STILL enjoy most of your meal.
Not promoted, but you should take the chance:
If your toddler is at the stage when an iPad or some other colorful distraction can be used for an un-interrupted 20 minutes, then go for it.
Uh-uh, NO WAY, don’t even think about it!:
I don’t care how cute your toddler is. Pop your head in… turn around… walk away. PERIOD.
No contained area:
A place you cannot leave your toddler alone, not even for a second.
Enclosed, but space is tight:
If YOU can’t fit between the tables then you know you couldn’t catch your toddler if they tried – this isn’t Norm’s.
