THE GET DOWN
Pollen is a bustling outdoor eatery, almost hidden at the end of a quiet neighborhood street. Though the mainly outdoor space might be casual, the food at Pollen is not your typical order at the counter fare.
Either for breakfast or lunch, this daytime eatery is the perfect spot to unwind, people watch or let the kiddos spread their toys out on the table while you read a book. Whatever your vibe, Pollen is the type of place you will just want to chill, so feel free to show up in your most comfy threads.
Though the patio at Pollen is not completely enclosed, there is something soothing about a tot having autonomy over their eating area while outdoors. Plus, there IS room to run. If you have a screamer, I’d say you’re A-ok too. I mean, all the seating IS outdoors!
The menu at Pollen accommodates to the pickiest eaters as well as those with special food restrictions. They have plenty of vegan and gluten free options available, and the Chickpea patty is a healthy option to your meaty burger (which btw, both excellent choices.)
Sweet tooth nudging you? Then the Lemmon and poppy seed pancakes might be a good way to end your meal. Whatever you do, please PLEASE order the bacon. Its thick, its smoked, and its simply delicious (it’s the Midwest girl in me talking.)
Pollen is a perfect little spot if you just want to get down with the neighborhood locals, meet an interesting artsy cat, or strike up a convo with a cool dude bearing an Australian accent.

For those with little
runners & screamers:
Easily forgiven:
Here, you can forget the fact that it’s your rambunctious child that’s screaming and STILL enjoy most of your meal.
Not promoted, but you should take the chance:
If your toddler is at the stage when an iPad or some other colorful distraction can be used for an un-interrupted 20 minutes, then go for it.
Uh-uh, NO WAY, don’t even think about it!:
I don’t care how cute your toddler is. Pop your head in… turn around… walk away. PERIOD.
No contained area:
A place you cannot leave your toddler alone, not even for a second.
Enclosed, but space is tight:
If YOU can’t fit between the tables then you know you couldn’t catch your toddler if they tried – this isn’t Norm’s.
