Pace
THE get down
Imagine you’ve just valeted your car in a town that appears to have been left untouched since the 1950’s.
The type of town where people from the area walk almost barefoot into the local grocery store (which STILL remains the only business here) for their morning coffee and a loaf of bread.
Laurel Canyon is in the hub of all hills. It’s surrounded by lush and quiet mountain life, yet heavy traffic flows right through it. You start to wonder how you got here, and then for a minute, why you came.
You now chalk up enough nerve to ask the clerk with the beard if there is a restaurant here called PACE. He points to the 5 outdoor steps that lead to a very dimly lit basement. Finally, a warm voice says hello.
A charming and seductive speakeasy vibe is happening here at Pace. It’s the kind of place you want to grab a martini straight up with a blue cheese olive at the bar and enjoy the show. Pace is a place for the cool and chic; a center point for the underground Hollywood scene.
Don’t let that scare you if you are dining with a tot. Just request the spot where writing on the wall IS okay, or if you have to, under the aquarium in the cave. Don’t forget your iPad and headphones, and come with a bag of tricks. You WILL be lingering over your olive and everyone WILL leave happy.

For those with little
runners & screamers:
Easily forgiven:
Here, you can forget the fact that it’s your rambunctious child that’s screaming and STILL enjoy most of your meal.
Not promoted, but you should take the chance:
If your toddler is at the stage when an iPad or some other colorful distraction can be used for an un-interrupted 20 minutes, then go for it.
Uh-uh, NO WAY, don’t even think about it!:
I don’t care how cute your toddler is. Pop your head in… turn around… walk away. PERIOD.
No contained area:
A place you cannot leave your toddler alone, not even for a second.
Enclosed, but space is tight:
If YOU can’t fit between the tables then you know you couldn’t catch your toddler if they tried – this isn’t Norm’s.
