Will Rogers State Park
THE GET DOWN
Will Rogers State Park sits in the Santa Monica Mountains and makes for great hiking since the trails are wide with difficulty levels that range from novice to skilled.
Here you will see more horses than dogs. If you go to Will Rogers State Park on a Saturday morning, you might even catch a polo match which the kids will get a kick out of. There is a vast area of open lawn space for the tots to run free, as well as Will Rogers former ranch house which is on the historic registry and open for tours.
Another unique highlight of Will Rogers State Park is that its location happens to catch some wind, so bring a kite just in case you go on one of those days. It’s a perfect place for a picnic, potato sack races, a soccer game?
If you park on the grounds there you do have to pay ($12), but there are plenty of places to park on the way up the mountain (and not to far from the main entrance) as well.

For those with little
runners & screamers:
Easily forgiven:
Here, you can forget the fact that it’s your rambunctious child that’s screaming and STILL enjoy most of your meal.
Not promoted, but you should take the chance:
If your toddler is at the stage when an iPad or some other colorful distraction can be used for an un-interrupted 20 minutes, then go for it.
Uh-uh, NO WAY, don’t even think about it!:
I don’t care how cute your toddler is. Pop your head in… turn around… walk away. PERIOD.
No contained area:
A place you cannot leave your toddler alone, not even for a second.
Enclosed, but space is tight:
If YOU can’t fit between the tables then you know you couldn’t catch your toddler if they tried – this isn’t Norm’s.
