Frederick Weisman Museum
THE GET DOWN
What a treat to visit the Frederick Weisman Museum. I’m telling you, it’s not THAT often you hear people talking about this place. It truly IS a hidden gem.
Let’s get the bittersweet news out of the way first… You have to be 12 years of age to tour the Frederick Weisman Museum. Womp, sorry Capri. You also have to call ahead for a reservation. Tours are given Monday –Friday; 10:30am and 2pm. And now the good stuff.
Frederick Weisman (formerly the biggest Toyota distributor west of the Mississippi) had a passion for art and felt a responsibility to share this art with others. He and his (2nd) wife, collected modern and contemporary art, mixed with surrealism, pop and photo-realism.
The Weisman’s also made it a point to collect contemporary art from California artists. The collection is displayed in the 1920’s style home they once lived in. Though you are not allowed to take pictures inside the home, you are allowed to snap as many as you please on the grounds.
A visit to the Frederick Weisman Museum is most definitely one to be put on your bucket list!

For those with little
runners & screamers:
Easily forgiven:
Here, you can forget the fact that it’s your rambunctious child that’s screaming and STILL enjoy most of your meal.
Not promoted, but you should take the chance:
If your toddler is at the stage when an iPad or some other colorful distraction can be used for an un-interrupted 20 minutes, then go for it.
Uh-uh, NO WAY, don’t even think about it!:
I don’t care how cute your toddler is. Pop your head in… turn around… walk away. PERIOD.
No contained area:
A place you cannot leave your toddler alone, not even for a second.
Enclosed, but space is tight:
If YOU can’t fit between the tables then you know you couldn’t catch your toddler if they tried – this isn’t Norm’s.
