Where to Eat in New Orleans

Whether you’re headed out for dinner

Or looking for a quick sweet treat for the kiddos, a trip to New Orleans will not be complete without visiting some of these amazing places!

Cafe Du Monde

Since 1862, Café Du Monde is THE Original Coffee and donut shop. This place is a scene… always loud and bustling. Are they the best beignets I’ve ever had? No. But like they say… when in Rome.

Willa Jean

Willa Jean is pre-tty much an essential stop when in Nawlins. Brunch is the best of all worlds. Willa Jean has got a casual bistro vibe and the scene is always LIT.

If you don’t feel like sitting through a meal, then the pastry case and biscuits are worth a visit alone. Get your java fix on with the Willa Jean blend coffee.

Turkey and the Wolf

Turkey and the Wolf is an off the beaten path hipster haven. The digs are cool and super casual. I mean, there aren’t too many places you can go to these days with a friendly bolognese sandwich on the menu.

Johnny Sanchez

Because Mexican food on a rainy day is always a good idea. This is some of the best in town. Maybe even some of the best, period!

Carousel Bar at Hotel Monteleone

The bar itself could give you the spins before you’ve even gotten a drink to the lips. There is a reason why this bar is named the Carousel. You guessed it, it rotates!

Central Grocery

Like most places in New Orleans, stepping into this Italian grocery store is like stepping back into time.

Founded in 1906 by Sicilian immigrants, Central Grocery is the home of the Original Muffuletta. The Muffultta is the best darn Italian sandwich you’ll find in New Orleans, so don’t go anywhere else!

Parkway Bakery and Tavern

If you are going to get a Po Boy anywhere in NOLA, then Parkway is the BEST place. It’s a bit out of the way, but totally, TOTALLY worth it. I mean, they’ve been doing it for over 100 years!

Doris Metropolitan $$$

If you are looking to drop some loot on any meal while in New Orleans, let DORIS be the place. Doris Metropolitan specializes in steak.

I’m literally convinced that Doris uses magic in their food because THIS is probably one of the best meals I have ever had in my life. Yes, a very large statement from a 20 year food veteran who’s eaten all over the world. Everything at Doris is PERFECTION.

Lafitte

Have a drink at the very first bar established in the U.S.! Since 1722, Lafitte’s has been the oldest building in NOLA.

Note:
*You know the saying “if you’ve been to one, you’ve been to them all? I would say the same applies to the fine dining restaurants in New Orleans. What can I say? Turtle soup and pecan crusted fish are very popular menu items. If you DO want to experience the more formal dining side of things, then I suggest eating at only ONE of these places. Feel fancy for a night. Why not? The experience will definitely be one for the memory book.
