Salt & Straw (Larchmont)
THE GET DOWN
The unique flavors at Salt & Straw set it apart from the rest.
From the less traditional types of ice cream (for the adventurous taste buds), like Rose Water and Saffron, Caramel Potato or strawberry balsamic, to your more traditional chunk lovers (like me) ooey Gooey fudge Brownie or chip cupcake; Salt & Straw has something for everyone.
They collaborate with local businesses, schools, stores, farms, you name it. So the flavor board is always interesting and forever changing.
The only problem is that line! Yes, well worth the wait but when you have the kids hanging on your leg screaming I want ice cream, sometimes you just need a quick fix.
Enter a solution here: Know what you want ahead of time, walk right past the lines with confidence and head right to the freezer section with the pre-packages pints. You are then allowed to head right to the register. Yay! And if your kid wants a cones that bad then bring your own and dibby it all up when you get outside. That’s the plan. Honest.

For those with little
runners & screamers:
Easily forgiven:
Here, you can forget the fact that it’s your rambunctious child that’s screaming and STILL enjoy most of your meal.
Not promoted, but you should take the chance:
If your toddler is at the stage when an iPad or some other colorful distraction can be used for an un-interrupted 20 minutes, then go for it.
Uh-uh, NO WAY, don’t even think about it!:
I don’t care how cute your toddler is. Pop your head in… turn around… walk away. PERIOD.
No contained area:
A place you cannot leave your toddler alone, not even for a second.
Enclosed, but space is tight:
If YOU can’t fit between the tables then you know you couldn’t catch your toddler if they tried – this isn’t Norm’s.
